American Australian Indigenous Arts Scholarships
 

Lisa Fox Indigenous Scholarship: USA-Australia Open

Each year, the American Australian Association hosts the Lisa Fox Indigenous Scholarship which support international study and exchange between our two countries. Scholarships are awarded up to a maximum of US $40,000 for one year.

The AAA is currently accepting scholarship applications from Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian students interested in pursuing graduate level study or post-doctoral research in Australia.

The American Australian Association is committed to advancing and investing in graduate education, to enable our countries’ most valuable resource – human capital – undertake groundbreaking research and unlock creative new solutions to pressing global challenges and help improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Through our American-Australian Graduate Education Fund, the Association awards 20-25 graduate and indigenous scholarships each year.  Launched in 2002, our Education Fund is one of the largest sources of privately funded educational scholarships between Australia and the United States with over 300 scholar alumni and US $7.5 million awarded to date. 

Applying for a scholarship

 

All applicants are required to complete the online Application Form. You will be required to set up a site account by registering as a "Non-Member". 

  1. Go to the Scholarship page you would like to apply for via the scholarship links on the home page
  2. Click on the "Application Form" link or "Apply Now" button
  3. Select "Click here to Register" link
  4. Select "Email Subscriber (Non-Member)" >> click the Continue button
  5. Fill in the remaining details
  6. Return to the Scholarship page you would like to apply for and repeat step 2
  7. Sign In using the Log In details you just created
  8. Start your application!

Within your account you can save, leave and go back to your application any time before submitting by the due date. Please be aware you will be required to upload supporting documents to this online form.


You will be notified of the results of your application by email approximately eight weeks after the closing date deadline, at which time selected applicants will receive further instruction.

General Eligibility

To be eligible for a Graduate Scholarship you must be: 

- an Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian

- undertaking or about to undertake research or study at graduate level or above;

- accepted or affiliated into an Australian university; and

- plan to undertake a minimum one-year full time research or study.

 

NOTE: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable financial need.
