The American Australian Association (AAA) and the Australian International Screen Forum (the Screen Forum) have created a scholarship to foster international-based learning and career development opportunities for the next generation Australian filmmakers.

The award will be given to an up-and-coming Australian director who demonstrates talent, initiative and early momentum working in the Australian screen industries and who has a professional development proposal that includes a desire to build international career opportunities and to learn from practical experience in the United States.

The Screen Scholarship is open to Australians who are at the early stages of their careers as a director, including those with experience in making shorts, feature films, documentary films, or television or digital works, and includes graduates from Australian film and screen arts schools as well as those working independently.

The successful applicant will receive a grant for a customized program of development in the United States for up to three (3) months in duration and will be expected to deliver significant benefits to the grant holder and to the wider Australian screen community.

The Screen Scholarship includes placement on a screen project in the United States by the Screen Forum, and will include on-set experience.
