ADMIRAL HARRY HARRIS NAMED NEXT UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR TO AUSTRALIA

The American Australian Association congratulates Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr. on being named the next United States Ambassador to Australia.  His appointment, once confirmed, will fill the void left since American Australian Association President, Amb. John Berry, left the post in September 2016.  As Commander of the US Pacific Command based in Hawaii, ADM Harris has visited Australia several times and he has extensive knowledge and expertise on Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.  His appointment has been widely welcomed by the Australian government.

Amb. Berry said of his replacement “he is one of our country’s finest leaders, with impeccable integrity and a deep understanding of the criticality of the American-Australian alliance and friendship.  He will make an incredible Ambassador”.
