American-Australian Veterans' Fund Opportunities - APPLY NOW

The American-Australian Veterans' Fund (AAVF) was created to honor our veterans and provide scholarships and support to help American and Australian veterans build prosperous and lasting post-military careers, by providing new educational opportunities and skills which assist transition to civilian life and rewarding employment.

The American Australian Association is currently accepting scholarship applications from Australian and American veterans, undertaking or interested in undertaking, Undergraduate or Graduate level study in each other's country respectively.

Each year, the Association awards ten American and Australian veteran scholarships, through two scholarship application rounds. These scholarships support international study and exchange between our two countries and are awarded up to a maximum of US $50,000 for one year.
 Scholarship funds may be used to support travel, living, tuition or other associated educational costs.

AAA - Incitec Pivot Ltd Veteran Scholarship & Internship (US to Australia)

The new AAA - Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) Veteran Scholarship and Internship will support an American veteran with a US $40,000 scholarship, for one-year of Graduate level study at an accredited Australian educational institution. Upon completion, the scholar may undertake an internship at IPL’s business, Dyno Nobel, in the United States or Australia.

Applicants studying or looking to study mining engineering, chemical engineering, business management (operations) or leadership are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

AAA - Lendlease Veteran Scholarship (Australia to US)

The Lendlease Veteran Scholarship will support an Australian veteran to undertake Graduate level study at an accredited US educational institution of the applicant's choice. This scholarship is open to any disciplinary field. 

AAA - Sentinels of Freedom Veteran Scholarship (Australia to US)



The AAA - Sentinels of Freedom (SoF) Veteran Scholarship will support a disabled Australian veteran who has been wounded or injured in a post-9/11 service related event. Applicants for this scholarship must be in receipt of a Veterans' Entitlement Act Disability Pension, at a rating 30% or higher, from the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs. 

This scholarship will support Graduate level study at an accredited US educational institution of the applicant's choice and is open to any disciplinary field.


On the ground mentoring and support will be provided by the US veteran's organization, Sentinels of Freedom.


AAA Veterans Scholarships (Australia to US)


American Australian Association Veteran Scholarships will support Undergraduate or Graduate study at an accredited US educational institution of the applicant's choice. These scholarships are open to any disciplinary field.

Australia to USA DEADLINE: 31 March 2019, 11:59PM EST


To be eligible to apply for the 2019 American-Australian Veterans' Fund scholarships you must be:

  • An honorably discharged post 9/11 military veteran;
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident if applying to study in the US; (dual citizens/permanent residents are not eligible);
  • An American citizen or permanent resident if applying to study in Australia; (dual citizens/permanent residents are not eligible);
  • Planning to undertake a minimum of one year study at an accredited institution in Australia or the US.

Please note, it is not necessary to have already been accepted into the accredited institution at the time of application. Prospective students are welcome to apply.
