2019 Australia to USA Graduate Education Scholarship Opportunities

The American Australian Association (AAA) established its Graduate Education Fund in 2002 to provide critical financial support and assistance to American and Australian graduates to undertake study and research in each other’s countries respectively. With over 300 alumni and more than US $8 million invested to date, the AAA is committed to helping advance graduate education, in order to enable our countries most valuable resource – human capital – to unlock creative new solutions to global challenges and improve the quality of life for all citizens. 

Opening February 1, the American Australian Association will accept applications for the Graduate Education Fund Scholarships outlined below from Australians interested in pursuing Graduate level, PhD or Post Doc study or research in the United States.

Australia to USA Graduate Education Scholarships
 



The Australia to USA Graduate Education Scholarships will support Australian students planning to undertake Graduate level study or Post-Doctoral research at an accredited US educational institution for a minimum of one-year. These scholarships will support the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, sustainability, medicine and health sciences and interdisciplinary studies. Applicants must be accepted into an accredited US educational institution at the time of the application. Applicants may apply if they have already begun their studies in the US. 

  

 
David Nason Journalism Scholarship
 

The David Nason Journalism Scholarship will support either:

  • An Australian digital, print, broadcast or multimedia journalism student to undertake Graduate level study at an accredited US educational institution for a minimum of one-year. Or;
  • An Australian journalist with 3-5 years of work experience to undertake a Journalism Residence Program at an American Media Company.

Applicants must be accepted into an accredited US educational institution or have a formal letter of offer into the residence program to apply. Applicants may apply if they have already begun their studies or residence in the US.

 
Lisa Fox & AAA-Aurora Indigenous Scholarships
 


The
Lisa Fox and AAA-Aurora Indigenous Scholarships will support Indigenous Australian students to undertake Graduate level study at an accredited US educational institution of the applicant's choice for a minimum of one-year. This scholarship is open to any disciplinary field. Please note, applicants do not have to be accepted into the US educational institution at the time of application.
 


WHO CAN APPLY 

To be eligible to apply for a American-Australian Education Fund scholarship listed above, you must be:

  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident (dual US citizens/permanent residents are not eligible); 
  • A recognized member of an Indigenous Australian community if applying for the Lisa Fox or
    AAA-Aurora Scholarships;
  • Planning to undertake a minimum of one-year full time study at an accredited US institution;
  • Accepted into an accredited US institution if applying for the Graduate Education Scholarships.

Note: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable financial need.
