IN MEMORIAM OF MICHAEL KRAYNAK, JR.
1930 - 2018


It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and long time Board Member and supporter of the Association, Michael Kraynak, Jr.  Michael passed away peacefully on the morning of May 23 in his home, with his loving wife, Patricia, at his side.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450.

  AMB. JOHN BERRY (RET.) GIVES THE 2018 AUSTRALIAN NAVAL INSTITUTE VERNON PARKER ORATION, CANBERRA

On a recent visit to Australia, American Australian Association President, Amb. John Berry delivered the annual Vernon Parker Oration to the Australian Naval Institute in Canberra.  His speech ‘Defend your Democracy’ called on the democratic governments of Australia, the United States and elsewhere, to exercise greater vigilance in protecting our nation’s democratic foundations and institutions from new and increasingly aggressive challenges posed by autocratic regimes seeking to undermine them.  Around 200 people, including from the Australian government, Defence, industry, diplomatic corps, academia and veterans attended the event, which was sponsored by Lockheed Martin Corporation.

70TH ANNIVERSARY BENEFIT DINNER
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2018

Join us for a memorable night as we celebrate 70 years and honor Rupert Murdoch AC, Executive Chairman of 21st Century Fox and News Corp at our 2018 Benefit Dinner.

Each year, the Association holds a Benefit Dinner to recognize important American-Australian business relations and to celebrate the scholars of our Education Fund.  Proceeds from the Dinner benefit our Education Fund which to date has awarded more than 300 scholars over US$7.5 million in grants to pursue advanced studies in fields such as medical research, STEM and sustainability.

DAME JOAN SUTHERLAND FUND ARTS SHOWCASE
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2018

The American Australian Association is hosting a unique Arts Showcase to highlight the depth of talent of our diverse Dame Joan Sutherland Fund alum.  The showcase will feature exhibitions from a selection of visual artists, as well as musical and theatrical performances.  Each of the featured artists has been the beneficiary of a Dame Joan Sutherland Fund grant.  The Fund was established in 1998 to provide grants to emerging Australian and American artists who show great talent in the fields of theater, dance, film & television, music, literary arts, visual arts, crafts and design.

ANNOUNCING AAA x AUSFF PARTNERSHIP

Since its inception in 2008, the Australian Fashion Foundation have helped young Australians gain world class, hands on international experience within the fashion industry.  The American Australian Association will be partnering with the foundation on their 2018-2019 Scholarship Awards for Australian artists to advance their career in the fashion industry.  To support Australia’s top emerging talent the AAA will commit to two $20,000 scholarships per annum. 

On June 12, the Australian Fashion Foundation presents its Annual Summer Party bringing together Aussies and Americans in the fashion industry to celebrate Australia’s top emerging talent.
