AAA Helps Australian Bushfire Response and Recovery

Despite heroic efforts from fire fighters, emergency responders and volunteers, over 24.7 million acres of land in Australia burned during the recent Australian wildfires. Vast tracts of natural habitat were affected, more than 1,500 homes were damaged and there was substantial loss of life to both people and animals.

In response to this tragedy, the American Australian Association, together with Greg Norman AO and the Bible Family, established two Funds – The Australian Bushfire Relief Fund and The Australian Wildlife Fire Fund. It was heartwarming to see the American and Australian community band together like never before and support recovery programs and emergency assistance for Australian people and communities and to protect and preserve Australia’s unique wildlife that has been decimated by the devastating fires.

As this year’s horrific wildfire season wraps up, as of February 29, 2020, so too is the Association wrapping up our fundraising efforts. We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the myriad of generous American and Australian companies, organizations such as G’DAY USA, schools, scout groups and individuals, who came together through bake sales, t-shirt designs, community fundraising events, employer-employee donor matching schemes and donations, to support these relief efforts. The Association was also proud to lead by example and donate our own net proceeds from our recent Arts Awards and Boston Dinners in support of bushfire relief.

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of all, the Association has received pledges totaling:

Australian Bushfire Relief Fund for Australian Red Cross
$1,354,709.45
pledged as of February 29, 2020

Australian Wildlife Fire Fund for WIRES, Wildlife Victoria and ZAA
$743,457.47
pledged as of February 29, 2020

The American Australian Association is directing 100% of your donations to the Australian charitable organizations above. Thank you for your generosity of spirit.
