Dame Joan Sutherland Fund recipient, Creative Producer

Tida Tippapart is a creative producer currently undertaking a Masters in Arts and Public Policy at Tisch School of the Arts New York University. Underlining Tida’s studies, her critical inquiry focuses on the role of public art as a means of civic engagement in the process of urban planning and urban development.

The intensive Art and Politics graduate program allows the select group of students to utilize New York as a creative laboratory for interdisciplinary artistic collaborations that challenge and question the conventions of traditional art forms and practices. The course is lead by leading artists who have shaped the art world, artists such as Karen Finely, Alfredo Jaar and Anna Deavere Smith teach within the program.

Tida’s experience in the field of the arts has spanned over several years in which she has participated in internship programs within well-know cultural institutions, such as the Louvre in Paris, these experiences have deeply grounded her career path within the arts as a cultural producer dedicated to furthering the role of the arts to a wider audience.

In 2009 after the completion of her Undergraduate studies in International Relations (UNSW), Tida undertook four months of independent research in Palestine and Israel, investigating the rise of public art within the West Bank. The body of work titled ‘Latitude/Longitude’ featured photos and multimedia content.  The work has been published in Australia and the UK, for the prestigious architecture journal Architectural Design (London) and ISO (New York).

In February 2011, Tida was part of a group of artists and designers who established the interdisciplinary studio space ‘Assemblage’ in Sydney. The mission of the studio is to increase collaborative projects amongst a variety of artists from diverse disciplines in which the collaborative dialogue would result in innovative creative processes. In April 2011, the studio was awarded the Artist Run Initiative grant by Australia Council for the Arts to further its commitment to developing innovate creative partnerships between emerging and practicing artists from a variety of disciplines. The studio also participated in the 2011 Sydney wide public art event ‘Vivid’, the annual night festival of projections and new media art along the Sydney Harbour foreshore.

Tida has also worked as producer and artist manager for TF1 France and Animal Logic- the Academy award-winning studio for animation and VFX, the studio is best known for The Matrix and Happy Feet.

Tida would like to express her thanks to Dame Joan Sutherland Fund for the generous scholarship that will allow her to further develop a public art project in collaboration with the New York-based interdisciplinary collective DoTank.
