Rajiv Jayaweera completed his Bachelor of Music at The Victorian College of The Arts in Melbourne, Australia in 2000. He went on to become one of Australia’s leading jazz drummers and performed, toured and recorded with many of Australia’s finest musicians and ensembles including The Joe Chindamo Trio, Paul Grabowsky’s Australian Art Orchestra, Peter Knight’s Way Out West, The Bennett’s Lane Big Band and The Sam Anning Quartet. He also regularly spent time based in Copenhagen working with musicians such as Jakob Dinesen, Jakob Bro, Hugo Rasmussen and Anders Christensen and performing at festivals around Europe. In 2011, Rajiv moved to New York to study for his Masters Degree at SUNY Purchase with John Riley as his principal study teacher. Since moving to New York, he has performed with The Kenny Werner Trio, Shai Maestro, Cyrille Aimee and has recorded albums with Michael Valeanu, Rotem Sivan and Cyrille Aimee.
