The 2008 Benefit Dinner featured an exclusive preview of the movie epic Australia with special commentary from Baz Luhrmann, along with personal video messages from Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

Australia has been a box office success worldwide and is set to be the second highest grossing movie ever made in the country.

Born in Perth, Western Australia, American Idol finalist Michael Johns performed at the Association's 60th Anniversary Benefit Dinner.
 
Michael was considered to be one of the top three competitors in the 7th season of the top television series.

The Association was honored to host Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan at the 60th Anniversary Benefit Dinner.
 
Other special guests included Wendy Turnbull MBE (Grand Slam Tennis Champion) and Damien Mudge (Doubles Squash Champion).
