Thomas is a Melbourne based trumpet player with a focus on contemporary music and improvisation. He graduated from the Victoria College of the Arts (VCA) in 2008 with a degree in Music Performance (Improvisation). During his time at the VCA, Thomas won the VCA Jazz Competition. Since graduation Thomas has been busy performing professionally throughout Melbourne and the rest of Australia and Japan in a variety of musical settings. In 2009 Thomas won the Mordialloc Jazz Scholarship. In January 2011 Thomas began studying at Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he was awarded a tuition scholarship. This year Thomas was placed on the Deans List for his academic achievements. Since January, Thomas has found fresh inspiration through his teachers and peers. He has found new musical directions, which he is excited to share with Melbourne audiences on his return.
