AMERICAN AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW CHAIRMAN


New York, NY. - 30 April 2015- At a Board of Directors meeting held in New York on Tuesday, 28 April Jennifer A. Nason was selected to succeed Malcolm Binks AO as the next Chairman of the American Australian Association. Mr. Binks will formally retire as Chairman on or before the Association’s Annual General Meeting on 8 June 2015.

One of the most senior women on Wall Street, Jennifer Nason - Managing Director and Global Chairman of Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. - will be the first Australian, as well as the first woman elected to this position. Ms. Nason has the full support of the Association’s lead patrons and corporate sponsors who have applauded her selection as the right person to move the Association forward at this time. Ms. Nason, a long standing Board member of the Association said she was “honored to receive this prestigious appointment and looks forward to working with American and Australian business and political leaders to further the long standing relationship between both countries".

Ms. Nason a graduate of the University of Melbourne and dual Australian and American citizen has lived and worked in the United States for more than 25 years. Ms. Nason has maintained ongoing business connections with Australia and for the past year has served as an international adviser on a ten person panel on the Australian Federal Government’s Financial System Inquiry (FSI 2014) review.


Ms. Nason has four grown children and lives in New York.

The American Australian Association was established in New York City in 1948 by Sir Keith Murdoch and a group of prominent American bankers, to promote cooperation and understanding between the United States and Australia. It is now the largest and most prestigious not for profit organization in the United States and Australia dedicated to building strategic alliances between these two countries. Headquartered in New York City, the Association also has regional operations in Los Angeles and Boston and is closely affiliated with the American Australian Association Ltd, in Sydney, the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, and the Perth US Asia Centre at the University of Western Australia.

For over 65 years, the Association has provided an important forum for exchange between political and business leaders across the United States and Australia. Every Australian Prime Minister who has served since 1950 and the chief executives of leading companies across the United States and Australia have been among the many individuals hosted by the Association.
