2011 University of Queensland Fellow
William Hatleberg
Bowdoin College/University of Queensland
Research Interest: Evolutionary Biology

William recently graduated from Bowdoin College where his research focused on the evolution and phylo-genetics of deep-sea annelid worms. At the University of Queensland, William will study marine sponge genomics to understand the evolution of the developmental processes associated with body plan formation and the origins of animal complexity.

2011 Neurology Fellow
David Wilson
Barrow Neurological Institute/Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery

2011-12 Sir Keith Murdoch Fellow
Rachelle Johnson
Vanderbilt University/St. Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research
Research Interest:  Bone Cell Biology

Rachelle is working as a post-doctoral scientist after receiving her PhD in Cancer Biology from Vanderbilt University.  Her research focuses on the signaling pathways that drive bone cell function and how these pathways can be targeted to restore bone quality in degenerative bone diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

2011-12 Sir Keith Murdoch Fellow
Rebecca Sweet
Yale University/Australian National University
Research Interest: Autoimmunity

Rebecca received her Ph.D. in Immunobiology at Yale University.  At the Australian National University, she will investigate the molecular mechanism underlying Neuropsychiatric Lupus.

2011-12 Sir Keith Murdoch Fellow
Talia Mota
UC Davis/ University of Melbourne
Research Interest: HIV Latency

Talia has a B.Sc in genetics from UC Davis and is doing her PhD at the University of Melbourne in Microbiology and Immunology. She is investigating epigenetic mechanisms that control the silencing and reactivation of HIV in latently infected resting T cells.

2011-12 Sir Keith Murdoch Fellow
Kristal Cain
Indiana University/Australian National University
Research Interest: Biology

Kristal will be working at the Australian National University as a postdoctoral researcher after finishing her PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at Indiana University. Her work examines how changes in environmental variables (e.g. rainfall or temperature) affect ecological and social processes in free-living birds.

2011-12 Sir Keith Murdoch Fellow
Ashley Moon
Johns Hopkins University/University of Queensland
Research Interest: Medicine

Ashley graduated from Johns Hopkins and worked on reproductive health education and program support before starting medical school at the University of Queensland.
