The American Australian Association has had the honor of hosting every Australian Prime Minister since its establishment in 1948, and this week we were delighted to continue the fine tradition, hosting a Reception and Private Dinner for The Hon Malcolm Turnbull and Ms. Lucy Hughes Turnbull on Sunday, 18 September 2016 in New York.
Amongst the special guests attending the dinner, were the Hon. Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs; the Hon Peter Dutton MP, Minister for Immigration & Border Protection, the Hon Joe Hockey, Australian Ambassador to the United States of America and other government dignitaries.
The Prime Minister was warmly introduced by the evening’s Host, Jennifer Nason, Chairman of the American Australian Association, and Global Chairman Investment Banking at JP Morgan.
Prominent American and Australian business and financial leaders at the dinner, included Andrew N. Liveris, Chairman & CEO, Dow Chemical Company; Steven S. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder Blackstone, Anthony Pratt, Chairman and CEO, Pratt Industries (USA) Inc., and Michael O’Neill, Chairman, Citigroup. The Prime Minister emphasized innovation and free trade as economic imperatives; and used the opportunity to push the United States government to ratify the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement.
