CA Chairman Paul Hopper returning to Sydney

For some Aussie expatriates, there comes a time when "going home" becomes a reality, whether your company transfer to the US comes to an end, or your Government role reaches full term. For a lucky few, the choice to remain, and set down permanent roots, or go back to Australia, is theirs to make. After nearly 11 years in the US, I have made that choice and the time has come for Debby and I to move back to Sydney.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my 8 years on the Committee of the AAA in California, and 4 years as Chairman, meeting a diverse group of people and hosting some extraordinary events at our home. I am grateful for the unique experience this role has provided, and I believe the organization in California is in good shape for the future.

The recent appointments to the CA committee - Lady Jules Hardinge, Paul Birchall, and Shaun Vanderkaap - will enhance the leadership here in Los Angeles and I am confident that the AAA in California will continue play an important role for both Australians and Americans in their cross-border relationships with both countries.

In closing I would like express my sincere thanks to the Committee for their support and in particular our Regional Manager, Lucy Harel, for her unfailing commitment and enthusiasm.

Paul Hopper, CA Committee Chairman, April 2015
