On Tuesday, October 24th the American Australian Association was joined by over 500 friends and supporters who gathered at Cipriani Wall Street, New York to attend our 2017 Benefit Dinner.  They were there to celebrate and honor two notable leaders - Lachlan Murdoch, Executive Chairman, 21st Century Fox and Co-Chairman, New Corp and Andrew Liveris, Executive Chairman, DowDuPont and Chairman & CEO, the Dow Chemical Company.

Lachlan Murdoch, the Association’s 2017 Honoree, was recognized for ‘Leading a third generation of support in advancing the deep and powerful American and Australian relationship’.

Andrew Liveris, a longtime ambassador of Australia and Patron of the American Australian Association, was awarded our inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for ‘Outstanding lifetime leadership in advancing business cooperation, investment and economic growth between Australia and the United States to record heights’.

They were joined by the Murdoch and Liveris families, Anthony Pratt, Deborra-Lee Furness, Lisa Fox, Ambassadors Joe Hockey and Gillian Bird, Consul General’s Alastair Walton and Chelsey Martin, plus a who’s who of leading Australian and American business executives.

Guests were entertained by the versatile and multi Grammy and Emmy award winning New Orleans jazz crooner - Harry Connick Jr. and his nine-piece big band!   Surprise guest presenter, Barry Humphries stole the show, introducing Lachlan Murdoch with an impersonation of his alter ego Dame Edna and her classic humor!

Thanks to the generosity and support of all our sponsors and donors, over $1.8 million was raised from the evening, which bolsters the Association and its Postgraduate Education Fund. The evening also provided a unique opportunity to introduce and recognize our 2017 Education Fund Scholarship recipients to attending guests as well as highlight the depth and breadth of the innovative and cutting-edge work that they are undertaking.

In particular we would like to thank 21st Century Fox, Dow Chemical Company and News Corp as well as Platinum sponsors: Allen & Company LLC, Citi, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Kingdom Holding Company, Morgan Stanley, Robert Kraft, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, Pratt Industries USA and Westfield and Gold Sponsors Deutsche Bank, Fox News Channel, IAC and National Australia Bank.
