Guest Speaker Biographies

Beth Shaw - Board President, Australian National Committee for UN Women

Elizabeth is a manager in KPMG’s advisory practice. Prior to this, she worked as the Executive Director of the UN Association of Australia and as a solicitor at the State Solicitor’s Office of Western Australia. Elizabeth also serves as Deputy Chair of the board of Global Voices and as a Director of Inclusion WA. Elizabeth’s involvement in gender and development issues began when she was appointed the 2008 Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations. She worked on gender issues during her time with the Australian Mission in New York during the 63rd General Assembly. In 2009, she established Young UN Women Australia in Perth and in 2010 was elected to the Board of the Australian National Committee for UN Women.  During her time on the board, Elizabeth has served as Chair of the HR and Governance Committee, represented the organization at the UN Commission on the Status of Women and visited UN Women projects in Thailand.  She is a qualified company director and holds degrees in arts and law as well as a Masters of Public Policy. Elizabeth has been recognized with an Australian Leadership Award from the Australian Davos Connection and a West Australian of the Year Award.

Professor Robina Xavier - Executive Dean, QUT Business School

Professor Xavier has more than 20 years’ experience in the tertiary sector. Prior to joining QUT, Robina worked as a consultant to both the private and public sectors, specializing in corporate and financial relations.  She has received state and national awards for her work in public relations practice and research and has published in national and international journals.  Robina has sat on a number of government advisory groups, is a former National President of the peak industry body, the Public Relations Institute of Australia and is a former chair of the industry’s National Education Committee which oversees accredit
ation of Australian university programs.  Robina is a Fellow of the PRIA and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is the co-editor of Public Relations Campaigns published by Oxford University Press.

Susan Price - Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Susan Price is a specialist in employment and diversity law and is currently a Director at PwC, where she works in the People business, heading up the Employment Law team. She has had a long career as a solicitor and prior to PwC had been a partner at Bartier Perry. She is a Committee member of the NSW Women Lawyers Association, a director of Epilepsy Action, and a member of the Bar Association's working party on equitable briefing practices.
