ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24


Join us on October 24 as we honor Lachlan Murdoch, Executive Chairman, 21st Century Fox and Co-Chairman, News Corp and longtime friend, supporter and Patron, Andrew Liveris AO, Executive Chairman, DowDuPont and Chairman and CEO, The Dow Chemical Company.

Each year, the Association holds a Benefit Dinner to recognize important American-Australian business relations and to celebrate the scholars of our Education Fund.  Proceeds from the Dinner support the Education Fund which to date has awarded more than 300 scholars over USD $7 million to pursue advanced studies in fields such as medical research and sustainability.

INAUGURAL MATESHIP CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6

Gather your friends, clients and colleagues for a round of golf to benefit the American Australian Veterans' Scholarship Fund.  The day will feature guest of honor and golf icon Greg Norman AO.  

All proceeds to benefit the American Australian Veterans’ Scholarship Fund.

AAA-AURORA SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The American Australian Association in partnership with The Aurora Education Foundation recently launched a joint AAA-Aurora scholarship to support two post-graduate Indigenous Australian students to study in the United States.  The successful applicants receive up to USD $40,000 per year for two years to support study and living costs.  In its inaugural year, two outstanding candidates to the scholarship, Kathleen Jackson and Julia Moriarty, were selected.

VETERANS’ SCHOLARSHIP FUND NOW OPEN

The American Australian Association is now accepting applications for our new American-Australian Veterans’ Scholarship Fund (AAVSF) from American veterans interested in studying in Australia.  The AAVSF will provide a scholarship award of up to USD $40,000 per applicant.

2017 USA to AUS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
NOW OPEN


The American Australian Association is now accepting applications for the 2017 USA to Australia Scholarship program, which provides awards up to USD $40,000.  American post-graduate and doctoral candidates in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sustainability and medicine are encouraged to apply.  Further details are available on our website.

DAME JOAN SUTHERLAND FUND OPENING SOON

The Dame Joan Sutherland Fund provides grants up to USD $5,000 to Australians and Americans who show great talent in the fields of theater, dance, film & television, music, fashion and design, literary and visual arts, crafts and design.

SCHOLARS UPDATE

John Bartholomew is a post-doctoral researcher in quantum mechanics at California Institute of Technology.  His paper on “Nanophotonic rare-earth quantum memory with optically controlled retrieval” was published in Science.  This paper is the outcome of his research at Caltech, which was supported by the Association's Northrop Grumman Scholarship he received in 2015.  John received his PhD from ANU. 

 

AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM TODAY IN BOSTON

Featuring some of the most exciting and eclectic short films from Down Under, this annual program returns to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lecture Series Committee (MIT LSC) on September 25, 2017 at 6:30 pm.

The 90-minute program includes live action, documentary and animated shorts, and is in memory of its creator, Susan Talbot, AM.
