WELCOME LUNCH AND ADDRESS
H.E. THE HON. JOE HOCKEY

The American Australian Association recently hosted 80 of our corporate members and their invited guests at a special lunch to welcome Australia's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. the Hon. Joe Hockey, in New York.

The lunch was hosted by Morgan Stanley, with Chairman & CEO, James Gorman opening the proceedings with a warm welcome to Ambassador Hockey and attending guests.

Association President Frances Cassidy, introduced Ambassador Hockey to the audience, who spoke candidly and at length about the depth of US and Australian defense and intelligence cooperation; and other topical subjects, including the upcoming US and Australian elections, US engagement in Asia, and the importance of the Trans Pacific Partnership for Australia and America.

Education Fellowship Update
The American Australian Association’s Education Fund is pleased to announce the selection of ten outstanding Fellows to the 2016 Australia to USA Fellowship. The Fellows will be conducting cutting edge research in the sciences, mathematics and medical fields capitalizing on their background in Australia’s unique geo-strategic research fields.   
A total of $320,000 was awarded for Corporate and Sir Keith Murdoch Fellowships. Details of the Fellows will be announced soon.

AAA & USSC 10th ANNIVERSARY AND BENEFIT DINNER
The 2016 AAA & USSC 10th Anniversary and Benefit Dinner in Sydney on 9 June was a tremendous success.  Over 500 attendees including NSW Governor H.E. General David Hurley, Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull, NSW Premier Mike Baird, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop,  Cabinet Minister Arthur Sinodinos and US Ambassador John Berry. 

The Benefit Dinner raised funds to support the Education Fund, which fosters post-doctoral research between Australia and the United States. To date, more than 250 Fellows have received awards totalling over US$6 million to pursue studies in critical fields from medical research to sustainability at top institutions such as MIT, Harvard and Princeton.
