Business Events Sydney (BESydney) promotes Sydney and the State of New South Wales (NSW) as business event destinations, identifies new international business event opportunities, and competes to secure these events to bring the world’s experts to Australia to work, play and connect.

Driving collaboration, BESydney is an independent not-for-profit company strongly supported by the NSW Government and works with leaders from industry, academia, research sectors and government who are focused on drawing the world’s brightest minds to Australia’s gateway city to help change the world.

Global cities are dynamic hubs where commerce and culture intersect with creativity and intellectual clout. They are energetic, ever-changing and entertaining. They are welcoming. They are challenging. They are home. Global cities are where world citizens live and play, and where the world’s business is done.

Sydney is Australia’s global city. Global in its outlook and in its makeup, the harbour city attracts business leaders keen to make their mark, thought-leading researchers challenging the impossible, and educators inspiring future generations. Sydney is lucky enough to boast both natural and man-made beauty – a stunning harbour environment and some of the world’s most recognised built structures. We also boast brains. This is a powerful and intoxicating blend. And it is key to our success in securing global conferences, congresses and corporate meetings – business events.

Global cities of the world vie to host these future-focused gatherings, which we win via a competitive bid process. These events are valuable not only in terms of delegate tourism spend, but also for their longer lasting and far reaching legacies that benefit communities and economies.

A strong business events program strengthens Sydney’s standing as a global city. Business events attract world leaders to our shores. They create opportunities to profile our expertise, to share knowledge, create and strengthen international collaboration. They are also valuable forums that foster trade and investment, spark innovation and fuel productivity. As part of an aligned state economic development strategy, they are an important driver for our knowledge economy.

Sydney is the number one city in Australia to do business, with almost half of all international conferences choosing the city to hold their event. Facilitated by BESydney, the State of NSW is keen to draw the world’s brightest minds to Australia’s gateway city and offers international business events strong engagement from industry, academia, research sectors and government.

BESydney works with diverse international sectors which are strategically aligned to local growth priorities including infrastructure, professional services, technology, research and health. The bureau works with congress organisers to achieve their goals and deliver an outstanding delegate experience. In turn, global conferences have the capacity to help change the world by inspiring innovation, collaboration, trade and investment.

Through to 2023, 140 events are confirmed for Sydney with some of these to take place in the revamped A$1.5 billion International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) opening December 2016.

These include SIBOS 2018, the world’s largest financial event; the World Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FIGO) 2021; and Annual Meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, ISMRM 2020.

BESydney has a specialised global team of professionals that spans Australia, Asia, Europe and The Americas. From initial enquiry all the way through to the event, BESydney offers a professional and personalised service that provides clients with unbiased expert advice, quotes, contacts and time-saving assistance.
