AAA Martini Party

The AAA hosted a Martini Night for members and guests at the Pegasus Suite of the famous Rainbow Room on Thursday, May 1. With over 230 members and guests in attendance, it was a great night to mingle and chat with new and familiar faces while overlooking the stunning evening view of Manhattan. It was a fitting tribute to the AAA, who this year is celebrating their 60th anniversary.

Martini’s were plentiful and delicious stations of pasta and antipasto kept everyone going, although the outright favorite were the racks of lamb. By the end of the night the dance floor was packed with everyone dancing to great songs ranging from disco to Top40 from both the USA and Oz.

We had many wonderful prizes for our raffle with ticket sales benefitting the AAA’s Dame Joan Sutherland Fund. Congratulations to our two winners for taking home two return airfares to Australia. Thank you to our raffle prize donations from Qantas, The Australian and Fosters Group.

Social

To further its goal of promoting relations between the United States and Australia, the American Australian Association conducts vibrant and extensive social programs. The monthly social reception is an excellent opportunity for networking with the American Australian community in New York. This is generally held on the first Thursday of the month at the Australian Consulate in midtown Manhattan. The highlight of the Associations social year is the Annual Australia Day Black Tie Gala held in late January. This is a black tie affair at a premier venue in New York. Valuable prizes are auctioned or raffled to raise funds for charitable and philanthropic programs of the Association. Other events on the social calendar include our wine tastings, The Annual Corporate Golf Tournament, The Martini Party and The Melbourne Cup Evening with a live feed of the famous horse race in Australia. Recently, we celebrated the formation of the American Australian Association Wine club, in...

Australian Women in New York (AWNY) was established in June 1999 by a small group of women who formed a committee to discuss options for providing a social focus and networking opportunities for expatriate women living in the New York area. The group has expanded steadily from this small beginning and in 2008 has over 300 American-Australian Association members on its mailing/email list. While the majority of members live in New York City, there are also a significant number living in the greater New York State, Connecticut and New Jersey. Our membership covers a broad range of age groups and occupations. AWNY hosts a range of social events and other activities and opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Our diverse range of events includes: Monthly coffee mornings at the Australian Consulate - usually the second Wednesday of the month. Educational and...

GDay USA - Australia Week

Growing from its inception in 2004 and celebrating its fifth year of success, Australia Week is now arguably the largest foreign country promotion held annually in the United States showcasing all things Australian from trade and investment, food and wine, film, arts, fashion, lifestyle, to indigenous culture and tourism. The program runs in LA and NY for 5 days each. This ten day program of events highlights Australias vitality as a place to visit, and a place to do business in the 21st Century.
