Australian Women Making it in New York
Guest Speaker: Kim D'Amato, Founder & CEO of Priti NYC
10:30am, Wednesday, April 11 at The Australian Consulate
Thank you to everyone who came along to the launch of our speaker series on March 14. Thirty four people attended Karen Jacobson's inspiring talk and clearly a wonderful morning was enjoyed by all!
Next, we are excited to have Australian entrepreneur Kim D'Amato speaking at our April coffee morning. Come along and hear how Kim took on one of the biggest cosmetic markets in the world to successfully create and grow her business, Priti NYC. You don't want to miss this one!
When she first started her company, Priti NYC, all Kim D’Amato wanted was a manicure. Sounds easy enough as she lived in New York, a city that probably has as many nail salons per capita as cell phones. The only problem was the second she walked into one the smell of fumes from the chemicals being used made her so nauseous she had to leave.
Then and there Kim began researching companies that would allow her to indulge in a beauty regimen that wasn’t harmful to her baby or herself, but after looking long and hard she came up empty handed. Some makeup brands did the trick, natural skincare was easier to come by, but the nail polish market wasn’t being well represented; nothing had quality standards quite as high as Kim had hoped. So, she began building Priti from the ground up: a healthier, non-toxic alternative to luxury nail polish that placed her as one of the players on the forefront of the sustainable beauty movement.
