The Black Tie Gala celebrates Australia Day and will be the official close of the G’Day USA program for 2009.

The event will be held at the historic Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, commencing with a red carpet arrival and cocktail reception, followed by a unique dinner experience, then dancing.

The 2009 Gala will honour Baz Luhrmann for his outstanding contributions to the arts, and in particular his most recent film, Australia. Leading man from the film, Hugh Jackman, will present the award and join us in celebrating his achievements.

The Gala will also profile the exceptional work of the Australian Surf Lifesavers. Any net proceeds from the Gala will go directly to the Surf Life Saving Foundation for the benefit of Surf Life Saving Australia. Australian Celebrity chef Luke Mangan will craft the menu for 1,000 prominent Australian and American arts, philanthropic, government and business executives.
