On October 4, 2009 the American Australian Association and the Australian Consulate, Los Angeles, joined together to welcome Australian Deputy Prime Minister, Julia Gillard. NEW! California Small Business Corporate Membership

AAA is pleased to offer a new category of corporate membership exclusively for California-based small businesses.

Small businesses with 30 employees or less with primary operations in California may join the Association for $500 per year.

The new category is designed to make the many benefits of corporate
membership accessible for small business throughout the state. Members in this category are also eligible to be nominated to receive the Association's California Small Business Award to be launched in 2010. This award will compliment the Association's established Annual Business Awards Luncheon by specifically focusing on small businesses in the state.

Fashionistas Rule @ the Melbourne Cup Social

On November 2, over 100 fans joined the American Australian Association, Advance and Australians in LA as we brought a taste of the Melbourne Cup to Los Angeles.

New Zealand Wine Tasting Raises Glasses & Scholarship Funds

On September 30, more than 175 people flocked to the official residence of the New Zealand Consul-General in Brentwood to attend the California Region's inaugural wine tasting event. The garden reception featured a tasting of 21 New Zealand wines and gourmet hors d'oeuvers prepared by Neal Fraser of Grace and BLD restaurants. Proceeds benefited the Douglas Wisor Memorial Scholarship which enables suitably qualified American winemakers to travel to New Zealand for an internship with a sponsoring New Zealand vineyard. Record Attendance at AFL Grand Final Social

On September 25, more than 300 AFL fans descended on El Guapo Cantina in Hollywood to watch the Geelong Cats beat out St. Kilda. Click here to view event photos.

CA Region Member Discount: L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce

The California Region is pleased to announce it has extended its strategic alliance with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. As the largest and most influential business association in Los Angeles County, this partnership brings many benefits to our members.

Members of the Association will continue to be eligible to become Associate Members of the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce at a discounted rate. Benefits include involvement in the Chamber’s policy and advocacy work, access to the Chamber’s business development programs and services, and discounted member rates at events and functions.

AAA Member Discount: $60 for one year's membership (Processing fee waived)

CA Region Member Discount: Zipcar

The American Australian Association is pleased to provide its California members access to Zipcars at a discounted rate.

Zipcar is a national car sharing program with more than 5,000 vehicles that is designed to enhance personal and business travel while decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and costs and hassles associated with rental cars and privately owned vehicles.

The reservation includes the cost of gas, parking, insurance and mileage. You will always get the vehicle you reserved with no extra charges, up sells or rental car lines.

Discounts and special rates for AAA California members include:

Waived application fee (normally $25)
50% off annual dues
Discounted membership & driving rates (Depending on the car model), drive from $8.75 /hour, $56/7-to-7 (7am to 7pm) and $66 /day (any 24-hour period) during the week and $9.75 /hour and $74 /day on weekends.
