Social & Cultural Programs

The American Australian Association organizes and sponsors various social and cultural events to further its goal of promoting relations between the American and Australian communities. The Association conducts and sponsors vibrant and extensive social and cultural programs. The majority of events are hosted in New York with regional hubs located in California and New England.
 
 
 
The social and cultural program includes operating a busy social calendar of events. Cultural events include gallery openings, book readings and film nights. Highlights of the Association’s social calendar include:
 
Australia Day Gala - held in New York as a black tie affair, the Australia Day Gala is popular event on our calendar each year. More>>
 
Annual Wine Tasting Dinner - featuring wines from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
 
Melbourne Cup Night - with live feeds for the famous Australian Horse Race.

Australian Women in New York (AWNY)
 
As part of the Social and Cultural Program, the Association supports Australian Women in New York (AWNY). AWNY provides a support group for Australian women and it continues to grow with monthly networking and discussion groups featuring guest speakers. The Dame Joan Sutherland Fund
 
Through the Dame Joan Sutherland Fund, the Association awards modest grants to aspiring artists in Australia and the USA. For more information about the Fund, please click here.
