American Australian Association Ltd - Sydney



 

Overview

 
The American Australian Association was incorporated as a limited liability company in Sydney on May 16, 2006.

The Association holds has a number of business seminars and social events each year, as well as an annual Benefit Dinner. The Association oversees the funding for the United States Studies Centre at The University of Sydney.
 
A high-level Benefit Dinner honoring Rupert Murdoch AC was held in 2006 to establish the Association in Sydney. Subsequent Benefit Dinners have honored:
 
• 2007: Charles ‘Chip’ Goodyear, BHP Billiton
• 2009: Frank Lowy AC, Westfield Group
• 2010: Jeanne Pratt AC, Anthony Pratt, and the Pratt Family (on 8 April 2010)

A recent initiative has been a joint project with the Australian Government to establish The United States Studies Centre (USSC) at The University of Sydney. The USSC is funded by federal and NSW Government, the University, and the private sector. AAA Ltd collaborated with the University in setting-up the United States Studies Centre and continues to assist in the function of the USSC.
 
In 2007, the NSW chapter of the Australian American Association amalgamated with the Association in Sydney.
 
The Association continues 4 of their programs:

• Battle of the Coral Sea Commemorative Services (annually 1st Monday of May)
• Hospitality in the Home
• US Naval Ship Visits
• Aussie Books on Board
