American Australian Association Ltd

On May 16, 2006, the American Australian Association established an affiliate nonprofit organization in Sydney, the
American Australian Association Ltd. Its programs further promotes and enriches the US-Australian relationship.
Since its establishment, calendar highlights have included the 2008 Centenary Celebrations of the United States Great White Fleet in Sydney and also the American Australian Association Ltd Annual Benefit Dinners, which recognizes prominent Australians and Americans who have contributed to the Australian-US business and economic relationship. Proceeds from the Dinners go towards building the Association's Education Fund. To date, more than 85 Fellows pursuing advanced research have received awards totaling over US$2.5 million.
2009 Benefit Dinner in Sydney
Frank Lowy AC was honored for his ongoing commitment to the Australian-US relationship on February 5 at the American Australian Association Ltd 2009 Annual Benefit Dinner, held at the Pavilion, AJC Royal Randwick Racecourse. Over 600 guests and dignitaries were in attendance including Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Former Prime Minister Robert Hawke and Rupert Murdoch.
2007 Benefit Dinner in Melbourne
The 2007 Annual Benefit Dinner was held in honor of Chip Goodyear, CEO of BHP Billiton, on November 28 at the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. Special guests included Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE, Sol Trujillo, CEO of Telstra Corporation, Victorian Premier John Brumby.
2006 Inaugural Benefit Dinner
The Inaugural Benefit Dinner on November 14, 2006, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney celebrated the establishment of the American Australian Association Ltd in Australia and honored News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch AC. Prime Minister John Howard attended as a special guest. The Dinner raised over AU$1 million for the Education Fund.
United States Studies Centre
The Association supported a joint initiative between the American Australian Association Ltd and the Australian Government, who committed funds of AU$25 million, to establish the
United States Studies Centre in Australia. The Centre offers a range of postgraduate research at the Masters and PhD levels and fosters academic exchange. It operates as an important research centre with leading publications on US studies.
