Programs

The Association runs a variety of programs for members and non-members.  These can be categorized as corporate, social and cultural, educational and philanthropic. The Events Calendar lists all upcoming events. More...

The Association is a section 501 (c)(3) public charity, contributions to the Associations programs and membership contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided under section 170 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
 

CORPORATE PROGRAMS

There are a range of corporate programs from breakfast and luncheon speakers series to the Annual Spring lecture and fellowship exchanges with the U.S. Congress and corporate internships.  The Association’s Business Council chaired by Chris Beale of Alinda Capital Partners, LLC, coordinates and initiates specific business related events of topical interest to corporate and individual members. EDUCATION PROGRAMS

 The American Australian Association operates annual Educational Fellowship programs.  The Association’s blue ribbon Fellowship program is the corner stone of our activities in Education, and has become the largest privately funded Education program between Australia and the United States. SOCIAL & CULTURAL

The Social and Cultural calendar offers vibrant events with the Australia Day Gala, nightclub events, Melbourne Cup, dinners, wine tasting and sporting events and regular networking receptions at the Australian Consulate, amongst others. 

Cultural events offer short film nights, film premieres, art exhibitions and musically themed evenings as well as theatrical shows and performances featuring Australian and New Zealand artists. More...

The Association also sponsors activities of other organizations which share a common interest such as the Australian Women in New York (AWNY). More...

PHILANTHROPIC PROGRAMS

Charitable contributions can be made on a tax deductible basis to specific funds or programs of choice maintained by the Association. These currently include:

The Education Fund which provides educational fellowships to U.S. and Australian scholars. More...
The Dame Sutherland Fund which provides assistance to aspiring Australian or American artists to travel to the United States or Australia to pursue formal courses of study or training. More...
The United States Studies Center which is located at Sydney University and conducts postgraduate courses in U.S. studies and operates as a think-tank  on US – Australian relations. More...
Operation Oz Kids which supports Australian children in the United States receiving urgent medical treatment which cannot be provided in Australia. More...

The Association has also supported the:
Inspire Foundation which has brought its “Reach Out” program – a web-based suicide prevention program to the United States. More...

The Association has been prompt in responding to disasters affecting the Asian Pacific region by providing funding to humanitarian assistance programs.  These include:
• The World Trade Center/September 11 Fund 
• Bali Bombing Fund
• Asian Tsunami Relief Fund
